Sophie Kenny
Ph.D. student in psychology, Brain, Behaviour and Cognitive Sciences (2013-2017)
“Does this look heavy to you?” In her doctoral thesis, Sophie investigates how observers attempt to infer properties of manipulated objects when the stimulus consists of nothing but a full-body animation of the performer. More specifically, using motion capture and virtual reality environment, Sophie looks at the effect of shape and motion integration: Do observers always combine both type of information in an additive manner when making perceptual judgements? Or are there certain actions where observers combine information differently, making them particularly sensitive to cue inconsistency?
Sophie successful completed her PhD in the summer of 2017. She is now a post doctoral researcher at University of Waterloo.
